Arrest after car and credit card stolen in burglary


A 45-year-old man has been arrested after a burglary in which a car and a credit card were among the stolen items.

The heist took place on October 18 at a house in Stanleigh Gardens, Donisthorpe, near Ashby, and the card was later used at a store in Derbyshire.

Police have issued a call for information, hoping to speak to a man seen on CCTV in the store.

The suspect was arrested today, Wednesday, November 3. He is still in detention and has not yet been charged.

Leicestershire Police said in a statement this afternoon: “A man was arrested after a burglary at a house in Donisthorpe last month.

“An appeal was made earlier this week with a CCTV image of a man officers wanted to identify and locate after using a stolen bank card at a Derbyshire store.

“The card and car keys were stolen in a burglary at Stanleigh Gardens on October 18. The car was taken away and found abandoned on Chapel Street.

“Today, a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, vehicle taking without consent and two counts of fraudulent representation. He remains in police custody.”

Police thanked everyone who participated in their investigations and shared the calls for information.
